To inform our decisions as to which streets were most in need of work, a pavement survey was conducted, and each block was given one of the following scores:

• Excellent: New pavement, with no need for repair.
• Good: No major defects were found in the pavement.
• Fair: Minor paving problems were found that do not impact driving.
• Poor: Defects in the pavement can affect driving on these streets.
• Very Poor: Medium-sized defects were found, moderately affecting driving.
• Failure: Large pieces of pavement are missing, and driving is severly impacted.
• Not Surveyed:Survey information is unavailable as these streets were either under construction during the pavement assessment or they are maintained by the State. For questions related to streets in Orleans Parish that are maintained by the State, please contact the Department of Transportation and Development Public Information Office at 1-877-452-3683.

Depending on the condition of the road surface and the types of water, sewer, or drainage work that may be required, the type of street repairs could be one of the following:

• Full Reconstruction: Repair sewerage, water, and drainage lines, rebuild the street entirely, and repair sidewalks and curbs.
• Patch Mill / Overlay: Repave the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks.
• Patch Concrete: Remove damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement.
• Incidental Road Repairs: Remove damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement.
• Non-Paving Incidentals: Repair damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
• Streetscape: Landscaping and other aesthetic improvements such as neighborhood signage and lighting.
• Bridge Repairs: Replace, restore or rehabilitate bridges over the City’s waterways and roadways
• Future Road Work Pending: Work may occur in the future, as more funding becomes available.
